This must have been so hard for her.
Angie Bowie is currently isolated from the rest of the world — without phones or Internet — in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
When her ex-husband, the legendary David Bowie, passed away on Sunday after a long battle with cancer, producers knew they had to break the rules and tell Angie.
The former model was pulled aside to be told the bad news away from CBB cameras, microphones, and other contestants.
A rep for Britain’s Channel 5 confirmed their role in telling her (below):
“Following the very sad news of David Bowie’s death this morning, we can confirm that Angie Bowie has been informed [of the news] off camera.”
The American married Bowie in 1970, though the two split in 1980 and have been estranged since then, as she told cameras on another episode of CBB:
“I go to great lengths to avoid him. It was terrible when we broke up, it was awful.”
Nevertheless, the 66-year-old still had an important effect on the Starman singer’s career, inspiring songs like The Prettiest Star, Golden Years, Cracked Actor and more.
Our thoughts go out to Angie, and everyone else affected by David’s death.
