They’re making a movie out of Cats because of course they are. In the cast we find Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen and James Corden. Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) directs. Production kicks off later this year. (Source.)
Coming up on the DC Universe streaming service will be a live-action Stargirl series. No further details just yet, but look for it on their service next year. (Source.)
And there’s also the trailer for Titans, which features Robin saying “Fuck Batman” and everyone is afraid that it’s going to be all Zack Snydered up. Which it very well might. I’ll give it a chance, though, since New Teen Titans was one of my first comics.
Doctor Who is working very hard to get me to watch again, what with Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor and Bradley Walsh as one of the companions. Very sneaky, BBC. Very sneaky indeed.
Okay, serious question: should I actually watch Split? McAvoy looks stupidly amazing in it but it is M. Night Shyamalan and, well, we do have a history. However, I loved Unbreakable (though I wish they had shot it with its original ending) and the idea of bringing back Glass and David Dunn has appeal.
Good Omens looks so good I’m almost afraid of it. Because I fear my hopes will be dashed to pieces. But, I dunno, seeing Gaiman right there in the middle of everything makes me think he’ll be a lot happier with this series than he was with Neverwhere.
Having watched the full trailer for Nightflyers, the upcoming sci-fi horror series from a story by George R.R. Martin, it basically seems to be Event Horizon meets Interstellar and…eh, looks less exciting now than the teasers made it out to be. I could completely be wrong. It’s here if you would like to see it, but it’s IMO not required viewing.
Wu Assassins is coming to Netflix and is “a martial arts crime series with supernatural elements” which stars Iko Uwais (the lead asskicker in the two Raid movies). That’s really all you need to know to make plans to watch it when it hits, but just in case, know also that they’ve added to the cast Katheryn Winnick (Vikings), Lewis Tan (Into the Badlands), Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy), and Tzi Ma (Arrival). I certainly hope Uwais’s partner in crime, Yayan Ruhian, will be there as well. (Source.)
Zombieland 2 is finally happening and everybody is back: cast, director, scribes, the whole lot. Production starts in January with it hitting cinemas in October of next year. Are we going to have another celebrity cameo of someone playing themselves? Please? (Source.)
