Facebook has set up a subsidiary in China and plans to create an “innovation hub” to support local start-ups and developers, the social media company said on Tuesday, ramping up its presence in the restrictive market where its social media sites remain blocked.
Jeff Bezos’ rocket company plans to charge passengers about $ 200,000 to $ 300,000 for its first trips into space next year, two people familiar with its plans told Reuters.
U.S. retailer Walmart Inc has decided to sell Japanese supermarket chain Seiyu and has already approached major retailers and private equity funds, the Nikkei business daily reported on Thursday.
Funeral plans for Anthony Bourdain have been temporarily placed on hold as the celebrity chef’s body has yet to be flown back to the U.S. from France.
The CNN star’s mom, Gladys Bourdain, told the New York Post‘s Page Six on Sunday, June 10, that the family is waiting on the French government in order to make the final arrangements.
“They won’t be shipping his remains back for a couple of days because of formalities,” Gladys told Page Six.
As previously reported, the Parts Unknown host, 61, was found unresponsive in his room at the Le Chambard hotel in France by his friend and fellow chef Eric Ripert. French authorities later confirmed Bourdain’s cause of death as suicide, revealing he’d used a belt from a hotel bathrobe to hang himself and that there was no evidence of foul play.
Gladys told Page Six that Bourdain’s estranged wife, Ottavia Busia, is handling the funeral plans because she is still legally his next of kin.
“Although they’re separated, she’ll be in charge of whatever happens,” she said. “We haven’t talked for a couple days. I’m sure she’s as broken up as I am.”
The former No Reservations host and Busia were married for nine years before splitting in 2016 and shared daughter Ariane, 11. He was dating actress and director Asia Argento at the time of his death.
Bourdain’s mother said in an interview with The New York Times on Friday that there had been no indication that her son had been contemplating suicide.
“He is absolutely the last person in the world I would have ever dreamed would do something like this,” she said.
Ripert, who was in France to film an upcoming episode of Parts Unknown with Bourdain, told Gladys that “Tony had been in a dark mood” in the days leading up to his death.
If you or someone you know is in emotional distress or considering suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
He’s a man with a plan. Brad Pitt is committed to making time for his children with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. In fact, the Oscar-winning actor rearranged his summer filming schedule to carve out quality time with his brood.
“He chose a project that films in Los Angeles,” a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly of the actor’s upcoming role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. According to the insider, Pitt aspires to establish a flexible schedule that will help in his divorce settlement with Jolie. “Brad wants certain provisions in a custody agreement that guarantee custodial time with all six kids.”
The former pair, whose high-profile split made headlines in September 2016, share Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 9, who visit their father “a few times a week.”
Although Jolie recently purchased a home near her ex’s to make things easier for the children, a source tells Us that she “has been very hesitant to agree to Brad’s terms because she does resent him for essentially forcing her to settle down in Los Angeles with the kids.”
Even so, the Allied actor is committed to staying in L.A., even if that means forgoing time with his long-distance girlfriend, MIT professor Neri Oxman. “Brad and Neri are still very much in each other’s lives, although not as much as he would like,” the pal explains of the pair, who have been seeing each other since the fall of 2017. “She will come out to L.A. to visit him this summer as he is filming, but she has a life of her own in Boston.”
While Oxman’s visits will help put Pitt’s mind at ease, he is still focused on working out a desirable custody agreement with Jolie. “Brad and Angie are continuing to try to work out their divorce settlement,” notes the source. “There hasn’t even been a settled agreement drafted by either side, which reveals how at odds they continue to be.”

The “asshole neighbor” saga continues!
That same day, Addison told Page Six he is in the process of hiring lawyers against the Younger star as he does NOT smoke marijuana and lives with a “sober companion.”
While the Soho dweller — who is the grandson of wealthy businessman H. Dieter Holterbosch — has received complaints from Duff about his cigarette use, he says his apartment is a smoke-friendly residence.
He told the publication:
“I live with a sober companion… I’ve been sober for months now. I smoke a ton of cigarettes, don’t get me wrong, but this is a smoking building, which is why I signed the lease here.”

Caitlyn Jenner and gal pal Sophia Hutchins have seemed practically inseparable for months now. Though they were initially coy about their close bond, they’ve loosened up in recent weeks.
Is this a sign that these rumored girlfriends are getting more serious? Many fans have been hoping so for a while.
And now it’s reported that Cait and Sophia are planning to get married.
RadarOnline reports that Caitlyn Jenner plans to marry Sophia Hutchins, but that she’s hoping to keep things low-key.
“They consider each other soul mates and freely admit they couldn’t imagine a life with anyone else at this point.”
The two have felt a close bond, despite the hefty age difference between the 68-year-old Olympian and the 21-year-old hottie.
According to a report, the push to marry may come from Cait recently missing out on some major milestones with her former stepchidren.
“Caitlyn would have loved to have helped Khloé through the tough time in the delivery room.”
Of course, it’s been clear for a while that Caitlyn will never see Khloe’s daughter, True Thompson.
“But the Kardashians have kicked her out of the family.”
Ever since Cait wrote her tell-all book, the Kardashians want nothing to do with her. It’s sad for everyone involved.
As for the wedding itself, it’s apparently set for a bluff near Cait’s Malibu home.
“Cait has a wedding planner to handle all the details.”
The guest list will include close friends and family … but no one with the name “Kardashian.”
“This is a dream come true for Cait because her rejection by the Kardashians — and even her own daughters — had left her feeling isolated and suffering from a crippling depression.”
Oh, that is heartbreaking.
“Sophia has changed all that.”
That’s so nice to hear!
Despite their age difference, the two have forged a powerful bond.
“She and Sophia have a lot in common.”
Not only are both women trans — Sophia transitioned as a teen, in college — but they both hold conservative political views that often put them at odds with the larger trans community.
(Though Caitlyn is aware that Trump is devastating for trans rights and seems to regret that she ever supported him)
But Cait and Sophia have been practically joined at the hip for months, ever since they were spotted vacationing in Mexico last year.
“The age difference doesn’t seem to matter at all.”
That’s wonderful to hear.
That is some very exciting news.
That said … we’re leery of hearing wedding plans, no matter the source, when the alleged couple has yet to confirm their romance.
There are plenty of good reasons to keep a relationship under wraps.
One, it’s not necessarily anyone’s business. Two, though Sophia has been Caitlyn’s plus-one a time or two, she is not herself a celebrity.
Three … a lot of people are going to have a lot to say about Cait allegedly dating a woman who’s younger than most of her children.
If these two marry … Sophia would be Stormi’s step-grandmother, right? Even though she’s only about a year older than Kylie herself.
The closest that Sophia and Caitlin have actually come to announcing that they’re dating is Sophia’s reference to getting James Corden’s “approval” on Instagram.
That’s not the same as full confirmation, even though they seem incredibly close and are widely believed to be living together.
If this report of wedding plans is true, this is exciting, and maybe they’ll announce it after the fact.
If so … well, summer begins next month, and lasts until September. So that’s the time frame that we’re seeing for a summer wedding.
Best of luck to them both!
Have you ever stopped to think, “Gee, I really wish Facebook had MORE influence over my life”?? Then you’re in luck!
Because weeks after Mark Zuckerberg testified in front of congress over the company’s data privacy scandal, he announced that the titanous social media platform will take a crack at online dating!
The CEO said he was “optimistic about the future” at F8, Facebook‘s annual developers’ conference, on Tuesday, adding that the future will include a dating feature in the Facebook app targeting the 200 million singles on the site.
The feature will let users build separate profiles only for dating purposes, he added, using just their first names. People using the tool will be able to pick what groups or events they want to “unlock” to see more potential matches with like minded users.
But don’t think Marky-Mark is trying to create the next Tinder — the CEO explained that the “totally optional” feature is going to be for “for building real long term relationships, not just hookups,” adding:
“It’s opt in… we have designed this with privacy and safety in mind from the beginning… you will only be suggested people who are not your friends.”
It’s a good thing they’re keeping privacy and safety in mind — given that just over a month ago, we were finding out about how data-mining firm Cambridge Analytica had accessed info from 87 million Facebook users without their knowledge.
But hey, why not let Facebook control our love lives, too? It’s not like Black Mirror is warning us or anything…

(SEOUL, South Korea) — North Korea said Saturday it has suspended nuclear and long-range missile tests and plans to close its nuclear test site.
The North’s official Korean Central News Agency said the country is making the move to shift its national focus and improve its economy.
The North also vowed to actively engage with regional neighbors and the international community to secure peace in the Korean Peninsula and create an “optimal international environment” to build its economy.
The announcements came days before North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is set to meet South Korean President Moon Jae-in in a border truce village for a rare summit aimed at resolving the nuclear standoff with Pyongyang.
A separate meeting between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump is anticipated in May or June.
North Korea has agreed to suspend all Nuclear Tests and close up a major test site. This is very good news for North Korea and the World – big progress! Look forward to our Summit.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 20, 2018
The North’s decisions were made in a meeting of the ruling party’s full Central Committee which had convened to discuss a “new stage” of policies.
The Korean Workers’ Party’s Central Committee declared it a “great victory” in the country’s official “byungjin” policy line of simultaneously pursuing economic and nuclear development.
The committee unanimously adopted a resolution that called for concentrating national efforts to achieve a strong socialist economy and “groundbreaking improvements in people’s lives.”
“To secure transparency on the suspension of nuclear tests, we will close the republic’s northern nuclear test site,” the party’s resolution said.
The agency quoted Kim as saying during the meeting: “Nuclear development has proceeded scientifically and in due order and the development of the delivery strike means also proceeded scientifically and verified the completion of nuclear weapons.
“We no longer need any nuclear test or test launches of intermediate and intercontinental range ballistic missiles and because of this the northern nuclear test site has finished its mission.”
North Korea’s abrupt diplomatic outreach in recent months came after a flurry of weapons tests, including the underground detonation of a possible thermonuclear warhead and three launches of developmental intercontinental ballistic missiles designed to strike the U.S. mainland.
Some analysts see Kim as entering the upcoming negotiations from a position of strength after having declared his nuclear force as complete in November. South Korean and U.S. officials have said Kim is likely trying to save his broken economy from heavy sanctions,
Seoul says Kim has expressed genuine interest in dealing away his nuclear weapons. But North Korea for decades has been pushing a concept of “denuclearization” that bears no resemblance to the American definition, vowing to pursue nuclear development unless Washington removes its troops from the peninsula.
